Town signs 911 IGA

A new 9-1-1 Intergovernmental Agreement has been signed into effect by the town.

The most recent signature accrued came from the Town of Lakeview during their Tuesday, Aug. 24, regular council meeting.

The council voted unanimously in approval of the document. The approval followed a discussion held in executive session.

Lake County’s Board of Commissioners recently signed the document as well, according to Town Mgr. Ray Simms, along with the City of Paisley and the rural fire protection district signatories of the agreement.

“It appears that we now have an opportunity to get a fresh beginning,” said Town Mgr. Ray Simms.

The other six signatories on the documents includes representatives from the City of Paisley and Christmas Valley, Silver Lake, Thomas Creek-Westside, New Pine Creek and Lakeview Rural Fire Protection Districts.

The new agreement outlines the administrative end of the 9-1-1 program’s management.  Continuing to play a role is a 9-1-1 Intergovernmental Council, which the agreement defines as featuring representatives from the Town of Lakeview council, Lake County Board of Commissioners, Paisley City Council, and the aforementioned fire districts.

A board designee from each of the aforementioned districts must be a resident of one of those districts, according to the agreement.  The IGC will include a chair and vice-chair position.

IGC responsibilities include preparation, review and approval of an annual budget governing the 9-1-1 excise tax revenues, prepare, review and approval of a contract for service, discuss and advise operational procedures and suggestions with the 9-1-1 contractor (the Town of Lakeview), review and approve capital expenditures and maintain an official point of contact with the state’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM).
