Hospital new construction work

rapidly progressing

Andersen Construction Project Mgr. Greg Nourse, Andersen Project Engineer Manny Levin and Lake District Hospital Project Mgr. Darryl Anderson of Anderson Engineering and Surveying enjoy a photo opportunity next to the new 750 kilowatt emergency generator inside the hospital’s new central utility plant building. Much of the mechanical components have been installed in this portion of the hospital’s new construction, and await final hook up.

A cursory stroll or drive past Lake District Hospital reveals rapid progress to the casual passer-by on the new construction efforts.

Chief Operating Officer Charlie Tveit said that the project is continuing on schedule, with a final construction completion timeline anticipated of December of this year, marking the end of the project’s second phase.

The third phase of the project will be the remodeling of the existing facilities, Tveit said.  A total of 14,000 square-feet will be renovated during this phase of the project, along with landscaping, lighting and various utilities.

“We’re still targeting the first part of December,” he said. “Everyone wants to have the first component done (in a timely fashion).”

New buildings erected on the former parking lot site and nearing completion, with external walls and roofing installed and interior work now underway. The new 35,000 square-foot building that will house acute car, obstetrics, lab, radiology and surgery has drywall being installed inside at present.

The new central utility plant (CUP) is also at a state of full enclosure, with equipment moved in and various wiring conduits and plumbing fixtures routed and awaiting final connections.

Unique to the CUP building is a mezzanine (upper deck) level that houses the air circulation, heating and cooling equipment.  All new, state-of-the-art equipment is being utilized in the facility, said director of plant works Mike Patrick.

A new information technology room is also featured within the CUP room, which will feature a climate-controlled environment for the computer banks.  Another yet room features all the electrical components for the hospital.
