Lakeview played host to the 55th Annual Lakeview Lions Invitational swim meet on July 11-13, and for the first time in many years the home team did more than just play the role of cordial host.
Following up a 4th-place finish at Prineville two weeks earlier, Lakeview registered a resounding victory over the nearest contenders, Klamath Basin and Prineville.
“It’s really exciting since it hasn’t happened in a really long time,” Lakeview coach Sian Bell said. “They did really well and all of our team members were there and all seemed to swim pretty well.”
Lakeview finished with 593 points, a solid distance ahead of runners-up Klamath Basin (360). Prineville (347), Grants Pass Aquatic Club (313), Oregon Water Wolves (311.5), Hi-Desert Swim Team (255), and John Day Swim Team (133.5) rounded out the standings.
