Monday, Oct. 12 — OSP responded to a vehicle fire on Hwy 140 at Beatys Butte Road. Cathy Ann Soumie, Ashland, was traveling east on Hwy 140 when the rear bumper area of her vehicle caught fire. She was able to escape the vehicle uninjured, though the car was destroyed in the fire. Hall Towing recovered the vehicle.

Tuesday, Oct. 13 — OSP assisted the Lake County Sheriff’s Office with an assault case at 620 N. F St., Lakeview.

Wednesday, Oct. 14 — OSP stopped Shanna Lynette House-Bost Carty, Fairport, N.Y., for a traffic violation on Hwy 140 at milepost 89. The OSP trooper observed criminal activity and searched the vehicle. The search revealed over 57 pounds of marijuana. The driver was cited and released.

Friday, Oct. 16 — OSP responded to an accident on Hwy 140 at milepost 71. Joshua Lee Griffin, Lexington, S.C., stated that a vehicle heading westbound veered into his lane causing him to go off the road and sideswipe a metal delineator post.

Saturday, Oct. 17 — OSP responded to an accident on Hwy 395 at milepost 123 where Joseph Worden struck and killed a cow in the roadway. The driver arranged for his own tow.

Monday, Oct. 19 — OSP stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation on Hwy 140 at milepost 89. Criminal activity was observed and a search of the vehicle was conducted. The search revealed a large amount of marijuana bud, currency and two firearms. Kevin M. Jones, McArthur, Ohio, Kevin Wilbur Jones, McArthur, Ohio, and Paula Jean Jones, McArthur, Ohio, were all citied and released in lieu of custody. The case has been referred to the Lake County District Attorney for consideration.
