Lake County Sheriff Office Report
Thursday July 4 — Deputies responded to the area of Kelly Creek Road in the New Pine Creek area regarding an assault with a vehicle. The victim told Deputies that he was walking with his wife and family on their property when they came across the suspect driving a blue Chevrolet pickup. The victim stopped the vehicle and informed the suspect that he was on private property when a verbal argument escalated. The victim attempted to obtain the license plate number to the suspect’s truck when the suspect lurched his truck forward striking the victim. The victim attempted several more times to obtain the license plate number when the suspect struck the victim several more times with the truck then sped off nearly missing an eight year old girl. The suspect has been identified and the investigation has been forwarded to the DA’s Office for charging.
Thursday, Aug. 15 — Deputies responded to the 900 block of South 1st Street regarding a stolen bicycle. The victim stated that unknown suspect(s) stole his daughter’s Huffy bicycle from their yard and headed south on South I Street towards Lakeview High School. The bicycle was painted gold and is valued at $125.00. The bicycle is described as a youth girl’s bike with a floral seat. The victim stated while the suspect was in the process of taking the bicycle, he might have fell and cracked the bumper on their car. The investigation is ongoing.
Friday, Aug. 16 — Deputies responded to a motorcycle accident on HWY 140 East at approximately mile marker 27, just west of Adel. The investigation revealed that the driver was maneuvering into a corner and the bike slid out from underneath him. The driver was transported to the Lake District Hospital for minor injuries.
Saturday, Aug. 17 — Deputies responded to the 200 block of North Q Street to a vandalism. The victim stated that two people in a silver Dodge neon threw a rock through the window of his residence. The investigation revealed that an ex-girlfriend and another known person threw a volleyball size rock causing the damage to a window because the victim was involved in another relationship.
The Sheriff’s Office will pay cash rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects in all criminal offenses. If you have information identifying suspects in a crime call your local law enforcement agency or 911. The Sheriff’s Office is currently offering a $500 reward for information involving the burglaries of the Eagles Nest Food & Spirits and the Eagles Lodge. Oregon State Police Report
Wednesday, Aug. 14 — A jeep driven by Yutximy Santiago, 20, of Lakeview was northbound on Hwy 395 when it struck and killed a calf. The jeep was drivable and the owner, Justin Roy Ferrell, 39, of Lakeview was notified.
Sunday, Aug. 18 — A gray Chevrolet Malibu was traveling eastbound on Hwy 140 between approximately mileposts 82-87, when it struck a deer. The vehicle continued eastbound until approximately mile post 87 where it became disabled due to damage sustained from the crash. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was recovered by Hall Towing at the request of the rental company. The driver Patrick Lee Kowalski, 79 of Omaha Neb., And Lana Kowalski, 72, of Omaha Neb., had no report of injury and the deer and original crash site was not located.
