Art gallery is look for artists and authors

Art gallery director Sandra Watts is working on getting the art gallery ready to open on Thursday, March 12, in the new building owned by the Lakeview Community Partnership in downtown Lakeview.

On Thursday, March 12, a new gallery will open in downtown Lakeview featuring Lake County artists and authors.

The new venue, “Artists and Authors Gallery”, will be located next door to the Alger Theater in the old KBE building, now owned by Lakeview Community Partnership (LCP) and will be operated under LCP. A grand opening will occur at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, during Irish Days.

The gallery, under the direction of Sandra Watts, is seeking artwork and books from local artists and authors interested in selling their work. Artwork will include original paintings, sculpture, pottery and photography. Photography and paintings should be either gallery wrapped or framed, and ready to hang. There will be a limit of three pieces per artist for each medium.

Interested artists are asked to bring their works for consideration to the gallery on Monday-Wednesday, March 2-4, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Artists should have their pieces named and selling price included. Both artists and authors are asked to provide a simple biography about themselves as it is related to their work, past and present, for buyer’s interest.

In addition to art, a “Book Nook” will be included. Local published books will be available for sale, either fiction or non-fiction. Authors are asked to bring their books, with price marked, on Tuesday, March 3rd between 2:00-6:00 p.m.

Those working on this exciting new opportunity are pleased to announce that several artists and authors have already committed their art and books and have been busy cleaning, painting and repairing the facility for the opening.

The art gallery will be located at 14 S. F St., in Lakeview.
