Eager spectators braved the summer heat to see if they were a lucky winner at the Lakeview Rotary Club’s annual Goose Chase held on Saturday, July 13 at Drew’s Creek.
Local Mary Steward walked away with the $10,000 Lakeview Business gift certificate and Lane Simpson was the corporate package big winner of the Polaris Ranger 570 4-wheeler.
Nearly 2000 ducks made up of yellow and blue ducks to represent corporate buyers were dumped into Drew’s Creek, promptly at noon as spectators followed the ducks as they moved swiftly down the creek.
There were several other big winners at this year’s event. Walt Davis was the recipient of the $500 fuel card. Steve Albertson took home $1,000 in cash. Gigi Outland was another $500 fuel card winner. The 70 Ranch was the recipient of a $500 Ace Hardware giftcard, GK Soundbooth took home a ski season pass, Charley Tracy won a $300 Les Schwab Gift Certificate, Hugh Cahill was the lucky winner of a family swim pass, Desert Rose Funeral Chapel took home a $200 visa gift certificate, a two night stay at the Wee Cabin was awarded to Lakeview Redi-Mix, while a six month Alger Theater movie pass went to TA Lawson and Sons. Larry Conn was awarded six months of Mount Mazama water free, Gene Thomas took home a $75 gift certificate to Julia’s on 395, while Dallas Angele was awarded two Round-Up Concert tickets to see Chris Janson this year. Walt Davis won four tickets to the Lake County Round-Up and Jacki Shipp and Jerry Morris were winners of $50 gift certificates to Warner Valley Mercantile.
Overall this year, the Rotary Club raised $39,800 and proceeds will go towards the Town of Lakeview’s swimming pool cover.
