Christmas Valley has a new store, the Stockton Farm Market, owned and operated by Tammy Stockton.
The store bills itself as a place for people to pick up items for the home and outdoors. Many of the items are vintage home décor, with a kind of farmhouse theme, including homemade items by Stockton. The new location will feature paint, scarves, stencils, lotions, crafts, and décor. The new store will feature much of same inventory that was featured when she ran it as an online store only.
Stockton, who has owned property in the Christmas Valley area, was running her store as an online only store in Bellevue, Wash. Wishing to escape the big city, she moved full time to her place in Christmas Valley, when she heard that the old Tumbleweeds Thrift store was available for rent. She jumped at the chance to open a boutique in Christmas Valley and offer the residents of the area, along with tourists, a unique shopping experience.
Stockton makes items herself, mostly candles and other home goods, though she has been reaching out to other makers in the Christmas Valley area. She hopes to not only display and sell their goods in her store, but wants to have classes for the general public in her store.
“There is a need for classes out here such as crafting, painting, ceramics, etc. I have been talking to some local makers about hosting weekly classes. A small fee would be charged for the supplies and the class leader’s time,” said Stockton.
She plans to have seasonal décor in her store throughout the year, and also online where she will continue to operate the online store. This also includes in-store discounts and special events.
Stockton is excited about having her own storefront, as it also provides her a studio where she can work on her own items, and not have to try to find room at her house. She also enjoys talking with the people that walk through her doors.
She has described the first few days as a time of constant traffic coming through the doors, as many people are coming in to look.
“The reaction from the local community has been great and everyone has been so supportive,” said Stockton.
Her current hours of operation are Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The store is located at 87146 Christmas Valley Highway, Christmas Valley; the phone number is 541-576-2337. The website is stocktonfarm.com.
