Lake County’s Youth Mentor Program is finalizing details for the annual Western Extravaganza to be held on Saturday, March 9 at The Village.
Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Lake County ESD office located at 357 N. L St., in Lakeview or at the door at The Village.
The newly formed peer mentors, a group that began at the beginning of the school year are going to lead the program by writing their own story about peer mentoring and then acting it out. The group is made up of 15 juniors and seniors and they go down to A.D. Hay and do various activities with the students at breakfast time. Four times a year, they do a special activity. In December, the peer-mentoring group made Christmas ornaments with the elementary school students.
The dinner menu will be chicken and tri-tip cooked by Sage Taylor. There will be a plethora of live and silent auctions throughout the evening. Some items include a 32 inch TV, art work and some bronze statues, Lakeview High School apparel and much more. The Mentor Program will take donations all the way up until the night of the event.
Proceeds from the event will go back to the Mentor Program to help fund their activities throughout the year.
