With the changing of the season, the Men’s Fast-Pitch Softball League is up and running and Lakeview’s representation, Red Rock Biofuels, is ready to take the league by storm.
After a 1-2 start to the season, the team led by Coach and player Frankie Manibusan is looking forward to a summer of successful games. The team plays on Mondays at Lakeview’s Varsity Softball field and in Alturas by the Modoc County Fairgrounds on Fridays for doubleheader games.
Manibusan, Tom Lightle, K.J. Benevente, Dustin Simms, Jamie Anderson, Darby Dick, Jeff Conley, Shawn Philibert, Kimo Benevente, Jay Collins, Tony Hamilton, Travis Dillavou and Nick Wilkins are the active starters on the roster.
Alternates for the season are Casey Thornton, Sam Damuth, Brandon Johnson, Peyton Hamilton and Pat Peterson.
The teams first game was on Friday, June 21 in Alturas against The Gymms in double header action. Both game were high scoring affairs, with Red Rock’s team falling 16-15, while winning the second game 26-20 behind two homers from Wilkins and a homer from Simms.
The team recently faced off against the Escalante Bro’s, one of the best teams and usual champion in the league, dropping a tough 14-5 game on Monday, June 24.
There are five teams in the league this year, with four teams from California and the Red Rock group, the lone team from Oregon.
