Paisley youth rodeo competitors gather for awards after a competitive season.

On Saturday, Nov. 9, the Paisley Youth Rodeo Association held its end of season banquet and awards.

With the season over it was time to enjoy good food and to celebrate each other’s accomplishments. Categories are divided by age, split as Peewee (6 and under), Junior (7-9), Intermediate (10-13), and Senior (14-18). Events began in June, with monthly activities set to different themes held at the Paisley Rodeo Grounds. Participants had to be present for at least three rodeo events to qualify for a buckle.

Events presented included dummy roping, goat tail, keyhole, poles, figure-8, barrels, boot race and goat doctoring for Peewee class. Juniors included breakaway, dummy roping, goat tying, keyhole, poles, figure-8, barrels and goat doctoring. Intermediates and Seniors competed in breakaway, goat tying, keyhole, poles, figure-8, barrels and team roping (adult assisted).

Peewee Division was won by Cy Millin. Cade Muller took second, followed by Tatum Sutfin, Tanner Leehmann, and Everett Murphy. The Junior age division was won by Quinlynn Muller, followed by Raelea Leehmann, Wyatt Ferrell, Crae Millin, and Cheyenne Leehmann. Intermediate Division was won by Ty Duarte, followed by Madison Duarte. Third place was won by Benny Alves, followed by Danica Shullanberger and Ashlynn Shullanberger. Seniors was won by Ella Villagrana, second place went to Sydney Madrigal. Basil Vickerman and Alena Vickerman rounded out the top-four. Separate individual honors were given for several events, with the Senior class team roping won by Basil Vickerman. Intermediate class team roping went to Ty Duarte. Junior Breakaway Champion was Royce Ginnochio, and the Peewee dummy roping championship went to Caleb Britten.

Additionally, the Honorary Gail Taylor Memorial Sportsmanship Award was given to Wyatt Ferrell for showing outstanding sportsmanship throughout the entire season.
