Dr. James H. Weaver, 74, Alturas, Calif. chiropractor for 29 years, died in Redding, Calif. on Saturday, July 13, 2019.

He was born in Wheeling, W. Va.  Aug. 7, 1944, to the now deceased James and Hilda Weaver.   He was the youngest of 10 children.

Jim was a 1962 graduate of Wheeling High School, and graduated from West Liberty University, Wheeling with a Music degree in 1966. He was a high school band and music instructor for 13 years. He also worked with the Taco Bell chain for four and a half years, before attending Cleveland Chiropractic College, Los Angeles. He graduated from the college in 1988, then headed the Chiropractic Science program for two years and taught there for four years. Jim was a student at the college when he met his wife, M.L. Leland, who was teaching there.

Too much city life in southern California, brought the two to Alturas, Calif., where they opened Weaver Chiropractic Center in 1991.

Jim enjoyed his patients, Fandango Days, California Pines Fireworks, Modoc District Fair events, Modoc High School Football and the camaraderie of the Wagon Wheel Café. Jim really loved attending the Tom ‘n Jerry night, hosted annually by the Alturas Elks Lodge. He was happy to be able to attend last year’s event.

Jim is survived by: his wife of 34 years, Dr. M.L. Leland; two sons in Ohio and their wives, children and grandchildren;  two sisters; his stepdaughter and spouse and two children of southern California; and many nephews and nieces.

Private services are being planned.
