Gordon L. Ensley, 77, of Lakeview passed tragically on Jan. 30, 2019 near Lakeview, his home of 23 years.  He was born Jan. 29, 1942 in Oklahoma City, the son of Gordon M. and Ruth (Swender) Ensley.  In between, he met and married the love of his life, raised a family, and worked hard all his life.

He spent his formative years near, and graduated from Colony High School in Colony, Kan. in 1960.  On Sept. 1, 1962 he married Pauline Ensley (Neal) in Kansas City, Kan.  He put himself through college, and graduated from Emporia State University in 1964.  He worked as a teacher and coach for a decade at a number of Kansas schools, and then as a hospital administrator for 38 years. His most recent position was as Lake Health District’s CEO, a position he served in from 2001 to 2012.  He was also an active member of the Lions civic organization, and a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.

One of the highest compliments that you could give someone of his generation and mindset is that they were a good man and that they lived a good life. Gordon was, and he did. He worked hard, loved his wife and family with all his heart, cared for others, and gave of himself to his community.

He was preceded in death by:  sister, Marita McDiffett.

He is survived by: wife, Pauline; son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Sharon Ensley; son, Bryan Ensley; daughter and son-in-law,  Andrea and Grant Wishart; sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Jim Mills and Brenda and Richard Thexton; grandchildren, Halsey, Madison, Bailey, Jack and Will; and great- grandchild, Zoey.
