Juanita Aileen Olson - Murphy

Juanita Aileen Olson-Murphy, 91, was gently ushered into heaven on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019 after struggling with Alzheimer’s for more than 17 years. Juanita was born in Spokane, Wash. on Feb. 23, 1928, and the oldest of five children born to Chester Garnerd Olson and Olive Blanch Peters.

Approximately a year after the death of her mother, Juanita’s family moved to Lakeview when she was about ten years old. Juanita graduated from Lakeview High School and was the 1947 Round-Up queen. She married Maurice Eugene “Gene” Murphy in 1950, however, they divorced in 1956. They had three children, all born in Lakeview. Juanita worked at First National Bank in Lakeview for several years and later transferred to Eugene, and then to Portland, where she retired after 35 years of service with the bank (now Wells Fargo).

Juanita’s life was marked by a love of animals, dancing, reading volumes of books, gardening, helping others in simple but meaningful ways, and a sacrificial love for her family. Her family has grieved her loss long before her life ended, but will always remember her laugh and her ferocious love of family.

Juanita is survived by: sons, Monte Murphy and David Murphy; daughter, Monica Tubberville; sister Marjorie Foster; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
