Shirley Annette Stewart
Shirley Annette Stewart, 80, went to be with the love of her life, Jim Stewart, on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019 in Lakeview. Shirley passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born to John and Mildred (Tracy) Scoville in Lakeview on April 22, 1939. Shirley grew up in Lakeview and attended school from Kindergarten through graduation with Lakeview’s greatest class of 1957. Later that year she married her high school sweetheart, Jim Stewart on Oct. 26, 1957 at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Shirley was very involved in the Catholic church and started playing the organ at the age of 12. She continued playing at mass, weddings, and funerals until the age of 77. Shirley’s love of music also included being a part of the Happy Sounds, a musical group that preformed around the area.
Shirley lost her left hand at a young age in a tragic accident. This would have discouraged or stopped many people, but for Shirley it motivated her even more.
She continued not only playing piano, guitar and various instruments, but she also taught music in every school in Lake County and several in northern California. Shirley also taught music out of her home over the years to impact many, many lives.
In 1975 she and Jim opened Jim and Shirley’s place, a loved favorite for kids to hang out, after losing their oldest son, Nick, in a car accident. It was later renamed to Pizza Villa in 1980, and she and Jim retired in 1994 after selling the Villa.
Shirley was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Nick; sister, Betty Lou Buckhorn; and grandson, Connor Ralls.
She is survived by: son and daughter-in-law, Monty and Kim Stewart of Lakeview; son, John Stewart of Lakeview; daughters and sons-in-law, Taunie and Jerry Evans of Lakeview; Kristi and Jim Morris of Klamath Falls and Jamie and Clarke Ralls of Salem; brother, Jerry Scoville of Florida; sister; Mary Lee Scoville of Waldport; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
