One of the popular events, and one of the only events, that took place in the 2020 Irish Days is returning, the Pub Crawl.
Unlike last year the pub crawl will take place on Friday, March 12, and Saturday, March 13. There is no set time for the pub crawl to occur; in previous years the event began at the Lakeview Elks Lodge before people went to different bars in the community. With COVID regulations this year the pub crawl will be more dispersed, with no set time and a limited number of participants.
Marcie Wade, who is helping to organize the pub crawl, said there will be a limit of 100 participants this year. People will need to register in advance and due to COVID there will be no refunds for sign-up costs. The crawl will occur during normal business hours for each business. Due to COVID restrictions there will be no potato bar this year.
Wade said there are two deadlines to sign up for the pub crawl, and she would prefer if people signed up by the first deadline. The first deadline Is Thursday, Feb. 25, and the final deadline is Thursday, March 4. She said this will give her an exact number to give to Benders Digital Concepts for the number of t-shirts that will need to be made. There will be no day-of pub crawl registration allowed. If the event is canceled people who pre-registered will still get their shirts — they will not get a refund. The shirt will feature the words, “don’t kiss me, we are in a pandemic.”
The cost is $35 and the proceeds support the National Elks Foundation. Each participant will be given five drink tokens which they can use at the Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Indian Village, Eagles Nest and El Aguila Real.
