Hoping to continue their hot start to league play after the winter break, the Paisley Broncos boys basketball team lost one and won one over the weekend; losing to Trinity Lutheran, but beating Chiloquin 73-51.

Getting back to the court on Friday, Jan. 3, the Broncos hosted Trinity Lutheran, losing the game 73-53. Paisley Head Coach Kristofer McAllister was happy with the effort against Trinity Lutheran despite the loss, but noted that they needed to play a stronger defense to win against a talented Trinity Lutheran squad.

The Broncos struggled to stop Trinity Lutheran from being able to score at will and Paisley was not able to overcome the deficit, never able to close the gap.

Noah McAllister led the team with 19 points and Camden Froehlich added 14 points.

The next night, Saturday, Jan. 4, the Broncos hoped to bounce back after that tough loss against Trinity Lutheran; when they traveled to Chiloquin. The Broncos overcame the previous night’s loss, beating Chiloquin handily, 73-51.

Coming out of the gate strong the Broncos were able to shut down Chiloquin defensively, something they struggled with against Trinity Lutheran. At the same time they were more aggressive on the offensive side of the ball.

Jumping out to an early lead the Broncos were able to hold off runs from Chiloquin and make sure that they did not get back into the game, running away at the end for a big win.

Aiden Jones led all scorers with 23 points. Coach McAllister is happy that Eli Jones is playing once more after having to sit out the first part of the season due to injury.

Paisley hosts North Lake on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Next for Paisley is hosting Gilchrist on Friday, Jan. 10, at 5:30 p.m., then traveling to Central Christian on Saturday, Jan. 11, for a 5:30 p.m. game.

Currently Paisley is 4-1 in 1A-5 Mountain Valley League play and 8-2 overall.
