North Lake boys continue winning streak

With the regular season winding down and only two more games left in the season, the North Lake boys varsity basketball is now on a seven-game winning streak after defeating Prospect Charter, Rogue Valley Adventist Academy, and Chiloquin.

A busy week of games started off with a convincing win against Prospect Charter on Monday, Feb. 3, 58-23.

It was an offensive rout from the start for the Cowboys as they came out of the gate steaming, scoring 15 points in the first quarter, while only allowing Prospect Charter to get four points. In the second quarter North Lake continued dominating both sides of the ball, and not allowing Prospect Charter any signs of life and working towards putting away the game. At halftime North Lake had a 27-9 lead. In the third quarter the game was put away by the Cowboys for good when they scored an imposing 20 points on Prospect Charter, while surrendering only 10. Things slowed down in the fourth quarter, but by that point the game was all but over and most of the bench got to play.

Silas Roth led the Cowboys with 17 points, while Bradley Rafini added 13 points and 12 rebounds.

On Thursday, Feb. 6, North Lake traveled to face Rogue River Adventist Academy and won, 44-35.

The Cowboys finished the week with a home game against Chiloquin, dominating all facets of the game, winning 70-31. North Lake came out hot and never looked back against Chiloquin, scoring 20 points in the first quarter, while Chiloquin struggled to get six points. The second quarter was not as high-scoring as the first, but Chiloquin was not able to find a way to close the gap at all. The Cowboys took a 34-17 lead at halftime.

After halftime the Cowboys put away the game for good as they were dominant on the defensive and offensive sides of the court. Chiloquin could not stop the Cowboys from scoring, as the Cowboys had another 20-point quarter and Chiloquin had five points.

The fourth quarter was not much better for Chiloquin as they still gave up 16 points to the Cowboys and only managed nine points. Three Cowboys scored in double figures, led by both Noah Roth and Zach Wesler with 17 points, and Bradley Rafini with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

The Cowboys are now on a seven game winning streak.

North Lake played Trinity Lutheran on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Their final game of the regular season is on Friday, Feb. 14, at Central Christian.

North Lake boys varsity basketball is currently 12-4 in 1A-5 Mountain Valley League play and 16-4 on the season.
