Now in its 74th year, the Lake County Chamber of Commerce Gala is the social event to attend in the New Year.

This year it is on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Lakeview Elks Lodge, with a 1970s theme. Doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner at 6 p.m. This year’s dinner is prime rib, Lakeview High School Honor Society will serve dinner. There will also be four chocolate fountains to dip a variety of treats.

Tickets are $35 each, and can be bought in advance at the Lake County Chamber of Commerce. According to Jessica Bogardus, Lake County Chamber of Commerce executive director, 6-10 tickets are being sold per day currently, and they are predicting to sell out. No tickets will be sold at the door.

According to Bogardus, this is the Lake County Chamber of Commerce’s biggest fundraiser; it helps keep Chamber programs funded throughout the year.

Unlike previous years, there will be no auction, only a raffle with different price levels of $10, $20, and $40 tickets. Another change is that there will be no Master of Ceremonies, a big change from previous years. Bogardus felt that people really wanted to mingle and chat with each other, and they wanted to keep the event moving without a Master of Ceremonies.

The $40 raffle prize was donated by Dan Henderson of Ace Hardware, a Traeger meat smoker, valued at $800.

At the $20 level there are two prizes, both donated by Ed Staub and Sons, an infrared turkey fryer and an outdoor grill, both valued at $500.

The $10 level will feature various baskets and other prizes. Raffle tickets can only be bought at the Gala.

A major highlight of the event has always been award recipients. Like in previous years, the prestigious Junior and Senior First Citizen honors will be announced during the event.

Other awards to be distributed include Community Improvement, Legacy, Tourist Buzz, Presidential, Chamber Member of the Year, Chamber Board Member of the Year, and Medical Professional of the Year. It is Paisley School District’s turn to choose the Educator of the Year.

The Lake County Chamber of Commerce Gala is made possible through sponsors Lake District Hospital, Hall Motor Company, Ace Hardware, Les Schwab, and Pacific Power.
