The Chewaucan Trail bridge, located on the Paisley Ranger District of the Fremont-Winema National Forest, will be temporarily closed for repairs from Tuesday, Sept.r 6, through Thursday, Sept. 15. Located at Chewaucan Crossing Trailhead (south of Marster Spring Campground) along National Forest System Road 33, the bridge provides access to the Fremont National Recreation Trail #160 (aka Oregon Timber Trail and also the Oregon Desert Trail).
Repair work consists of replacing the decking and is expected to be completed within the two-week timeframe.
This bridge closure will remain in place until repair activities are complete.
Bridge repair is a critical component of maintaining the trail system within the Fremont-Winema National Forest. Replacing the bridge components will help maintain its structural stability.
Even though the nearby camping area will be open, public and contractor safety is imperative, so visitors are encouraged to avoid the work site during the closure period.
