North Lake volleyball is off to a strong start, having won all but one of its sets as of Monday, Sept. 13.
The team faced Paisley on Wednesday, Sept. 8 and won all three of its games. The Cowgirls then played Gilchrist on Thursday, Sept. 9, winning 25-3, 25-12 and 25-10.
On Saturday, Sept. 11, North Lake traveled to participate in the Crook County Invitational in Prineville. They participated in pool play all morning, Coach Mellisa Roth said, and then played two sets in the afternoon.
They made it to the silver bracket and played Madras varsity and Redmond JV, winning both match-ups. Their scores against Madras were 25-20 and 25-13. Against Redmond JV, they managed 25-17, 21-25 and 15-13.
Roth was pleased with her team’s performance, noting that they served at 91%. Ninety percent serving is the team’s goal. “They served well and had good defense,” she noted.
Going forward, she said she is working with the team members on improving their hitting.
North Lake was scheduled to play Trinity Lutheran on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Roth said she was anticipating a tough game, adding, “We’re hoping to hit well and be competitive.”
North Lake volleyball is then set to go up against Central Christian on Friday, Sept. 17.
