Mary Phillips, 80, passed away on April 11, 2020. Mary was born in Arizona on Aug. 17, 1939. Her family moved to Oregon where she was raised before settling in California. She married Ellis Dale Phillips in Reno, Nev. on March 25, 1961 and moved to Morgan Hill to farm prunes, corn and walnuts. Eventually she and Dale established and operated The Montecito Christmas Tree farm and Boutique for 20 years. They retired in 2003, and moved to their Andy Hill property in Lakeview, where they met many nice people and settled into a content life.
She was an active member of the Morgan Hill Women’s Chamber of Commerce and a 4-H Club leader for many years. One of her many attributes was creativity. She loved to sew, design and create
hand-made items and award-winning floats for the Morgan Hill 4th of July parade for Lillie Rist Construction.
Her home was always open to people and animals in need. People would often call her just to visit or get comforting advice. She always made everyone feel special and loved. She enjoyed puzzles, going to garage sales and visiting over a cup of coffee but her true passion and joy was her family and friends. Mary’s memory will be forever a lasting as one of great kindness and generosity.
