Lakeview Town Mgr. Michele Parry discussed the Town’s geothermal program at the most recent meeting of the Lakeview Town Council.

Over the past month there has been an ongoing issue with the geothermal system at Warner Creek Correctional Facility (WCCF); the water temperature is not where it should be to provide heat to the correctional facility.

In meetings throughout the summer Lakeview Public Works Dir. Jeff Marshall said that he has been investigating the issue. So far he has been unable to determine if the issue is on the WCCF side or on the Town’s side.

Parry said at the Town Council meeting that she is finalizing a partnership with the geothermal program at the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) to help the staff at Town Hall understand the geothermal system thoroughly and how to address issues in the system. She said people from the program will come to help address the issues WCCF is facing and determine how to solve them.

Parry said she envisions that this will be the first step to developing a geothermal master plan with support from OIT.
