On Monday, Dec. 19, in their only game of the week going into the holiday break, the North Lake Cowgirls basketball team defeated Condon at home 45-15.
Cowgirls Head Coach Jon Murphy said “the girls played really hard” and the team was able to play a lot of its athletes. “The younger girls who don’t get a lot of playing time got quite a bit of minutes tonight,” he said after the game.
Murphy noted that Condon’s team was shorthanded but said they still played well, displayed good defense and didn’t quit. Ultimately though, “Our girls just kept plugging away at it,” he said, leading to North Lake’s win.
Hannah Roth led the Cowgirls in scoring with 16 points; she also had 11 rebounds and four steals. Emily Murphy contributed 14 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Paisley School’s Faith Brummer had five points and four rebounds. Paislee Joye led the team in steals with six and also scored four points. Ari Araujo helped the team out with four rebounds, three assists and two points.
The Cowgirls were next scheduled to face South Wasco County at home on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 4 p.m.
