Lakeview Volunteer Fire Department recently hosted a fire safety event for second graders at Fremont Elementary School. Firefighters covered a variety of topics with the students, including “stop, drop and roll” and how to get low if the house is full of smoke.

They also discussed having a family plan for fire, including a place to meet outside the house in case of an emergency. The firefighters also talked about the gear they wear so kids are not scared when they arrive on scene. They stressed the importance of never going back into a house and letting the firefighters know so they can help.
